Our Statement of Faith

The Scriptures

We believe all 66 books of the Bible originated from God. He inspired the writers of scripture to record exactly what He desired to say to mankind! As a result, the Bible is God's absolute, timeless truth about who God is and how we ought to view and live life. There are not other words or writings inspired by God in this manner. (2 Timothy 3:16,17)

God in Three Persons

There is only one living and true God. He is the Creator, Redeemer, Preserver and Sovereign Ruler of the universe, who reveals Himself to us as Father, Son and Holy Spirit without division of nature, essence or being. (Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19)

God the Father

God the Father is the Giver and Sustainer of life. He is all loving, all just, all wise and all powerful. He is the one true God and the One who judges righteously. God is Father in truth to those who become children of God through faith in Jesus Christ; however, He is fatherly toward all men. (1 Corinthians 8:6)

God the Son

God the Son is the perfect representation of the Father in human form. He is fully human and fully divine. Equal with God the Father, He humbled Himself by taking on the form of a servant and becoming obedient to death on the cross. He knew that only though His death and the shedding of His blood could forgiveness and remission of sin be secured for lost mankind. He endured the cross, died, and was buried. He arose on the third day appearing to witnesses following His death. He ascended back to Heaven and now lives and reigns with the Father in glory awaiting His final triumphant return. (John 1:14)

God the Holy Spirit

God the Holy Spirit, convicts the world of sin and unrighteousness, draws people to God and works in the life of each believer to produce godly character qualities. He demonstrates Himself in the life of the church through special abilities given to each believer. These gifts allow God's children to carry out the work of the church. He is Comforter, Teacher, Wisdom and Counselor. (John 14:26)

Humanity

Man was created by a special work of God, created in His image, and is the crowning work of creation. Man was created innocent, but with a free will, whereby he sinned against God and fell from his original state. All of mankind inherited the sin nature of Adam and all choose to sin. No man can save himself, but must turn to Christ for redemption. Despite their sin, every person is worthy of respect in Christian love. (Genesis 1:26, 27)

Salvation

Salvation is a gift of God to mankind and comes only through the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Salvation is provided by the substitutionary death of Christ on the cross. He shed His own blood for our sins that we might have a personal relationship with God the Father. Salvation is available to people from all nations and wrought in man by the work of the Holy Spirit. (John 14:6)

Sin

When one becomes a believer, he is free from sin's penalty of death, but not from sin's presence. A battle rages withint the believer between the carnal and spiritual natures. When the believer confesses sin, Christ forgives and cleanses the sin. Sinning grieves the Holy Spirit, brings shame on the cause of Christ, hinders a believer's relationship with God and others, and causes the believer to endure the consequences of sin. Believers should confess sin to God and if necessary, to any other their sin effects or offends. (James 4:17)

Church

The church is a group of believers brought together by the Spirit of God to carry out the Great Commandment by practicing the Great Commission and observing the two ordinances of the church-baptism and the Lord's Supper. Each church is an autonomous body operating under the leadership of Christ as the Head of the Church. (Matthew 16:18)

Baptism

Baptism is an outward expression of an inward change that has occurred in the life of the believer. It is an identification with Christ by picturing His death, burial and resurrection. Therefore it is by immersion. It is the first commandment a Christian is given for the Lord Jesus. (Acts 8:35-38)
